I am passionate about traditional Celtic music today - where it's come from, and also where's it's going. I hope to be a part of this movement towards the future of folk music, and strive every day to further hone my craft.
An emerging artist on the Celtic music scene, Adam Hendey is a multi-instrumentalist and composer from California who has performed in Ireland, the UK, and across the United States. Though he has been involved with various bands, playing various instruments, Adam’s heart is in the traditional music of Scotland and Ireland – and has been since he started playing music on the tin whistle at thirteen years of age.
Years of practice, a profound love of the tradition, and an enthusiasm for innovation have led Adam to develop a style all his own. Though his influences are numerous, Adam plays and composes with a distinctly individual voice. On guitar and bouzouki, he brings a uniquely contemporary interpretation to the passion of traditional music, with a style informed by intense study of music theory and a diverse wealth of musical experience and influences. David Brewer has called Adam "America's premier Celtic harmonium player."
Adam Hendey is currently living in Boston, Massachusetts, exploring the vibrant traditional music communities of the city, and is available for teaching and performance opportunities. Adam is a graduate of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, where he studied Traditional Music as a Master's student, and the Robert D. Clark Honors College at the University of Oregon, where he finished with Bachelor's degrees in Music and Philosophy.
Adam is currently playing guitar, bouzouki, and harmonium as with The Fire, a Celtic music power trio that performs traditional Scottish tunes alongside original compositions in an acoustic tour de force. To learn more about the Fire, please visit our website:
